Enjoy the market at your own pace

Staying in the heart of the market means, above all, being able to choose your moments.

A few tips from our team:

In the morning, the cathedral to yourself. The stalls open at 11:30 am. Make the most of it to visit the cathedral in peace, then watch the procession of the apostles on the astronomical clock at 12:30 pm.

In the afternoon, a warm break. Between 3 pm and 5 pm, the crowds are at their peak. This is the time to drop your shopping off at the hotel and take a breather in your room.

At nightfall, the illuminations. The streets of the Carré d’Or and the area around the cathedral light up. After the stalls close at 9 pm, the decorations stay lit and the streets grow quiet again: the most magical stroll of the evening, just steps from your bed.

Your room with a view of the cathedral

Hotel Gutenberg combines historic charm and contemporary elegance in rooms full of character.

Depending on the category, they overlook the cathedral, Rue du Miroir or the inner courtyard. The Balcony Cathedral Room, with its 19 m² terrace, offers a rare view of the illuminated spire: book very early for the festive season.

The organic, local breakfast, with bread from a Michelin-starred chef, gets the day off to a gentle start.

When should you book for the Christmas Market?

December weekends are the most sought-after in Strasbourg.

To enjoy a wide choice of rooms, especially those with a view, book in the autumn. On weekdays, from Monday to Thursday, the market is calmer and there is more availability.
